We went a bit out of the way on our transit from Denmark to Amsterdam in order to spend a few days exploring Lubeck, Germany. Through a random decision to visit a Hanseatic League museum, I closed a significant gap in my historical knowledge, tying Medieval Europe to the Renaissance.
